Ward to Nation: Kashyap Jani's Years in the BJP Yuva Morcha
From social work in 2005 to President of the Chandlodiya Ward Yuva Morcha in 2017: how Kashyap Jani grew as a BJP karyakarta in Ahmedabad.

Every national movement is built one ward at a time. Long before a campaign reaches television screens, it lives in neighbourhood meetings, membership drives and the patient work of karyakartas who know their streets by name. Kashyap Jani's political journey began exactly there, close to home in Ahmedabad.
This is the story of how a young volunteer grew into a ward leader, and what that journey teaches about public life.
Starting with service
His public life began in 2005 with social activities in his community. The work was simple and local: helping where help was needed and showing up for neighbours. It built the habit that still defines his approach, that politics should start with service rather than speeches.
In 2008 he joined the Vishva Hindu Parishad and worked actively with the organisation. A year later, in 2009, he became a member of HelpMate Foundation, an Ahmedabad NGO working on health, education and the environment, which he now leads as President. Those early years taught him how community organisations run, how volunteers are brought together, and how small efforts add up when people work as a team.
Growing with the Yuva Morcha
The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, the youth wing of the BJP, gave him his first party responsibility. In the Chandlodiya ward of Ahmedabad he was appointed Vice President in 2011. In 2014 he became General Secretary, and in 2017 he was made President of the ward Yuva Morcha.
Each step brought more responsibility. As Vice President, the work was about supporting the team and learning how the organisation runs. As General Secretary, it meant planning, coordination and keeping dozens of young volunteers moving in the same direction. As President, it meant leading the youth wing of an entire ward, representing its people within the party and carrying the party's message back to them.
What ward work really looks like
Ward work is practical, and most of it happens away from cameras. It means membership drives, such as the one that brought students of Sola Bhagwat Vidyapith into the BJP. It means organising festival programmes, Tulsi distribution and local cricket tournaments that bring families together. It means bike rallies with fellow karyakartas, door to door outreach before elections, and being reachable when a resident needs help with a problem.
This is where trust is earned, one conversation at a time. A ward leader who knows the lanes, the schools, the temples and the market associations can bring people's concerns to the right place and see them through. That local knowledge is what turns a national programme into something a family can actually feel.
Lessons for young karyakartas
The journey from 2005 to 2017 carries a few lessons for any young person who wants to serve. Start with service, because people remember who showed up. Learn the organisation before trying to lead it. Stay close to the ground, because the people of a ward are the best teachers of what policy should do. And keep going, because responsibility grows with consistency, not with shortcuts.
The BJP's youth wing exists precisely to give young people that path. It turns energy into organisation and organisation into results.
Why the ward matters
It is easy to think of politics as something that happens in Gandhinagar or Delhi. In reality, most of what citizens feel about government is decided much closer to home. Whether a streetlight is fixed, whether a family learns about a scheme it qualifies for, whether a young person finds a mentor who opens a door, these things happen at ward level. A strong ward organisation is the link between national policy and daily life.
That is also why the party invests so much in its youth wing. Young karyakartas bring energy, new ideas and comfort with technology, and they reach first time voters in a language those voters understand. Time spent in a ward Yuva Morcha is an apprenticeship in public life.
